Churchill has been awarded a three year contract by Dover Harbour Board who owns and operates the Port of Dover. The contract, which started in December 2016, includes internal and external cleaning services, as well as window cleaning, gutter cleaning, road sweeping, periodic cleaning, washroom services, plumbing and maintenance services.
The Port of Dover is one of the busiest roll-on, roll-off ferry ports in Europe and includes a busy cruise port and marina. The 2.9 square mile site comprises passenger terminals, cruise ship terminals, offices, check-in booths and storage facilities.
The contract includes cleaning to over 70 buildings, including service stations, berths, toilets, common areas, port buildings and the two cruise terminals. As a sign of early operational success delivered across the contract, Churchill has recently enhanced our service capability on site to include plumbing, maintenance and grounds maintenance services. This has incorporated the upskilling of existing team members delivering cost synergies and improved service delivery.
The operational delivery model in place at the Port of Dover is one of our most pioneering; combining state-of-the-art technology and innovative equipment to provide a forward-thinking solution. This includes implementation of our bespoke MapTag system to manage reactive and periodic cleaning tasks, spill management, quality auditing and fault reporting, which has delivered increased accountability and planning efficiencies. We have also introduced chemical-free cleaning with pure water, which absorbs dirt particles and removes bacteria efficiently without the use of chemicals, leaving a residue-free finish on all surfaces.
James Temby, Regional Manager commented: ‘’this is a hugely exciting contract for Churchill. One of our key business ambitions is to grow our transport portfolio and being awarded the contract for one of the busiest ports in Europe offers the best platform to move forward. The original win and subsequent contract successes demonstrates our capability in this area and we are delighted to have been trusted as a partner. We are confident we will continue to deliver the highest standards and grow our partnership with the Port to ensure a successful ongoing relationship.”
