Diversity and inclusion at Churchill

Diversity and inclusion (D&I) has been thrown into the spotlight this year with many social and political movements. At Churchill, we recognise the importance and have D&I policies in place.

We also recognise that policies are simply the foundation for a diverse and supportive workplace. We want to ensure that everyone at Churchill has a voice and the opportunity to steer and inform how we do things.

To achieve this, we have set up a D&I working group and a four-pillar plan called Mosaic.

Mosaic is designed to gather data, give people a voice, inform management and ultimately help us shape the future of the company. The four pillars are:

  • Data – before we make any informed decisions, we need to understand what our workforce looks like and to do this we need to gather data on employee demographics. This will enable us to understand the diversity of our employees.
  • Assess – we want to assess how our colleagues feel about this subject so we are asking for their views via Diversity & Inclusion survey. The survey results will enable us to understand the current mood of our employees, what we have done well so far and where we can improve.
  • Community group –  we will bring together a group of individuals from all around the business for a focus group where we will discuss the following areas – respect, belonging, empowerment and progression.
  • CSR – we will work with local communities in order to connect with the communities we operate in to create effective employment programmes to ensure our recruitment practises are diverse and inclusive.

We’re only just starting with Mosaic and we’re already blown away by the responses and input we’ve had. There will be plenty more opportunities to be involved throughout the project, and we’ll be sharing regular updates on Mo:dus, social media and our blog.
