Environment
Our vision
At Churchill Group, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and safeguarding the environment for future generations.
Our environmental approach is a core part of our wider ESG Strategy, focused on practical action, responsible decision-making, and continuous improvement across our operations, supply chain, and services.
We embed environmental considerations into the heart of how we operate, aiming to be a transparent, credible, and sustainably managed business.
Our environmental commitments
Our environmental strategy is built around four priority areas that help guide how we manage environmental impact across our operations, services, and supply chain.

Carbon reduction
At Churchill Group, we are committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040.
A science-based approach
In April 2024, Churchill Group achieved validation of its near-term Science Based Targets (SBTs) from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), aligned with a 1.5°C pathway. This milestone confirms that our emissions reduction plans are credible, measurable and independently verified.
Our science based targets are:
• Reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50.4% by FY2032, using FY2022 as the baseline
• Engaging our supply chain, with a commitment that 95.3% of suppliers (by emissions) across key categories will have science based targets in place by FY2027
These targets form the foundation of our journey to net zero by 2040.
How we’re taking action
Decarbonising our operations
We are reducing emissions across our own estate and activities by:
• Transitioning our buildings: Moving away from gas heating and sourcing 100% renewable electricity across our locations
• Improving energy efficiency: Enhancing energy performance and data quality across our fleet, estate, and plant
• Electrifying our fleet: Since launching our fleet electrification programme in 2023, our EV fleet has grown by 24% between 2024 and 2025
Decarbonising our supply chain
Reducing Scope 3 emissions is critical.
In 2025, we launched Together for Tomorrow, our supplier engagement programme, designed to support suppliers to:
• Measure their carbon footprint
• Set science-aligned targets
• Build capability through tools, guidance, webinars, and workshops

As a result our data shows that as the business has grown, our emissions have become more efficient, with emissions per £1m of turnover reducing from 72.8 in 2021/22 to 65.3 in 2024/25.
Sustainable procurement
Sustainable procurement is essential to minimising environmental and social impacts across our value chain while supporting ethical and responsible sourcing practices.
Our procurement approach strengthens resilience, reduces risk, promotes innovation, and contributes to long-term sustainable value creation.
How we’re taking action
• Reducing carbon intensity within logistics and distribution
• Prioritising accredited sustainable products
• Increasing supplier ESG engagement • Promoting innovation through strategic partnerships

Natural resource use
Managing natural resource use is essential to ensuring long-term business sustainability and reducing environmental impact. Our approach focuses on improving efficiency, reducing waste, supporting circularity, and promoting responsible consumption across our operations and supply chain.
How we’re taking action
• Monitoring and reporting resource use
• Innovation
• Zero waste to landfill across our estate and customer sites
• Working with clients to improve waste segregation and recycling
Nature impact
Understanding and managing our impact on nature is crucial to preserving biodiversity and maintaining healthy ecosystems that support our operations, communities, and long-term resilience. In 2025, we developed our Biodiversity and Nature Strategy to strengthen our approach to nature-positive operations and biodiversity enhancement.
Through our operations and partnerships, we continue to support biodiversity initiatives across client sites and communities.
How we’re taking action
• Pollinator-friendly planting
• Conservation projects and volunteering
• Awareness and education
• Invasive species management
