Social value
Our vision
We aim to create sustainable employment opportunities and support people in our local communities to thrive.
It is our responsibility to manage our activities and operations to maximise the positiveenvironmental, social, and economic impacts, our social value, in the communities wherewe work.
Our approach
At Churchill Group, we believe social value should be at the heart of our business. By working collaboratively with our clients and partners, we can have a meaningful and positive impact on the communities we serve.
We are passionate about people. We partner with charities and local organisations to support individuals facing barriers to employment, providing skills development, work opportunities, and local job prospects. We also engage directly with our communities through volunteering and impactful initiatives.
Employing & developing skills
Our people are central to everything we do. We recognise that providing employment opportunities and developing skills is one of the biggest ways we can create positive social impact.
Employing & developing skills
- Local recruitment – advertising and recruiting roles within the communities we serve
- Skills development – offering employability skills, training, work experience, and career opportunities
- Supporting vulnerable groups – providing pathways to employment for those facing barriers, including through our signatory commitments to the Social Recruitment Covenant, Care Leavers Covenant, Employer’s Domestic Abuse Covenant, and Armed Forces Covenant
- Programmes and initiatives – including apprenticeships, supported internships, Own Your Future, and Pathways to Potential programmes

Supply chain
We are committed to working with suppliers who share our values and contribute positively to the communities in which we operate. By building strong and responsible partnerships, we aim to ensure that our supply chain supports sustainable, ethical, and inclusive business practices.
We actively seek to work with a diverse range of suppliers and contractors, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs), and diverse-owned businesses. By doing so, we help create opportunities for local organisations and contribute to economic growth within the communities we serve.
Our approach includes supporting suppliers to meet our standards, encouraging responsible practices, and building long-term relationships that deliver shared value. Through collaboration with our supply partners, we aim to strengthen our collective social impact and ensure our services create benefits beyond the workplace.
Measuring and reporting social value
Our commitment to social value is not just a promise, it is measurable and reportable. We record all activities on our Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) Register (our in-house reporting tool) to understand the impact, against these three areas, particularly our social impact.
By utilising the measures from Social Value Portal’s TOMs System we can demonstrate, in simple monetary terms, the positive impacts within Churchill and across our supply chain.
Through our ESG Register, clear pledges, governance, and collaboration with partners, we track and report our impact on employment, skills development, and local communities annually, ensuring accountability and transparency.
Governance and accountability
To ensure strategic oversight, we have established a social value working group, dedicated to advancing our social value objectives.
We uphold transparency and data integrity through annual validation of our social value data by Social Value Portal. We also regularly review and reporting of our pledges and commitments and ensure integration of social value principles across all business operations.
“To me social value means creating a meaningful and lasting positive impact on people, communities, and the environment. At Churchill this is reflected in our commitment to acting responsibly, supporting wellbeing, and making decisions that contribute to a fairer, safer, and more sustainable society. Through our everyday actions, partnerships, and services, we aim not only to deliver high-quality outcomes but also to strengthen communities, empower individuals, and leave a positive legacy wherever we work.”
