Churchill Group awarded SFMI Platinum Award for sustainability

We have received a Platinum Award from the Sustainable Facilities Management Index (SFMI) for our sustainability work, the highest level awarded. This follows on from our 2024 Gold Award achievement, when we also won the Rising Star Award.

SFMI recognised our significant strides in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices, with our score increasing across all three categories this year. Our overall score increased from 83% in 2024 to 86%.

Run by Acclaro Advisory, SFMI is the only sustainability benchmark dedicated to the UK facilities management sector. It evaluates companies across 23 criteria in ESG initiatives.

Churchill Group was recognised for our bespoke decarbonisation resource hub created for our vendors, which drives a collaborative approach to climate action. It is designed to support the measurement and reduction of supply chain emissions. The free-to-access hub includes a Greenhouse Gas inventory calculator, a science-aligned target-setting tool, step-by-step guidance, and background materials.

We were also commended for our above industry-average scores in ecology and biodiversity, management systems, energy, and water. Our strength in our biodiversity risk assessment and strategy was noted, as it was identified as a main point of focus for improvement in our 2024 report.

Hannah Dales, our head of environment, said: “Receiving a Platinum award is an incredible achievement. Our organisation greatly values the SFMI audit and its outcomes, and we’re proud to play a role in advancing sustainability across the sector. Its broad and insightful guidance has been essential in driving our continued progress. In 2026, we plan to further strengthen our ESG impact data sets and improve our supply chain feedback loops to drive continuous improvement.”
