Shining the spotlight on the important role of apprentices in our business

This is National Apprenticeship Week and we are delighted many of our colleagues are continuing to develop their knowledge, skills and experience through an apprenticeship with us.

Our apprenticeships are open to anyone in our business with a passion to enhance their current skills and attain a recognised qualification which demonstrates their experience in their particular field.

The apprenticeships have been designed in collaboration with businesses, making them more relevant to individuals’ roles.  This allows our people to earn while they learn in a wide range of areas, from Level 2 Customer Service through to a Level 6 Chartered Management Degree.

One apprenticeship which is proving very popular since its introduction last year is the Coaching Practitioner Level 5, a fundamental skill for all those with people responsibilities or those aspiring to become team leaders, supervisors or future managers.

We have a great geographical spread across our business – from Scotland to the south of England, from all our divisions, including Amulet, Chequers, Radish, Transport and our support teams.

Everyone studying for one of these qualifications is working in role which is relevant to their specific apprenticeship and the apprenticeships cover the whole range of positions and divisions within the Churchill Group.

There are a wide variety of apprenticeship opportunities so, if you are interested, have a look at the website.  Some of our people are studying for qualifications which help them in their particular divisions, including IT, catering, security, horticulture, data analysis, maintenance and engineering.

If you are interested in pursuing an apprenticeship, our learning and development team are able to support and help – email them at  training@churchillservices.com.

Business development executive Harry Wentworth undertook an apprenticeship with us and this is what he had to say …

‘The comprehensive programme allowed me to observe all of Churchill’s business functions, including cleaning, catering, security, marketing and finance.

‘This was an invaluable experience, as I was able to gain a holistic view of Churchill operations and see how they all intersect.

‘Having completed my apprenticeship, Churchill offered me a permanent role and I’m now lucky enough to be able to pass on my experiences by mentoring two apprentices who are in the same programme I was in.’
