Meet apprentice Kirsty Gregory

In Learning At Work Week, we are focusing on our colleagues who are studying for an apprenticeship alongside their day-to-day roles with us.

First up is Business Administrator Kirsty Gregory, who works for Churchill at Team Valley trading estate, in Gateshead. She is part of the business support support team and is studying for a level 3 apprenticeship in Business Administration which is equivalent to two A-levels.

Before joining Churchill she was working as a pharmacy adviser.

‘I felt like I had gained all I could from that role and felt as though it was time for something new.’ she said.

‘A family member, who also works for Churchill, forwarded me the job advert and I have always heard great things about it as a company, I didn’t hesitate to apply.

‘You are treated as a person here and not just as a number.’

Kirsty says she is really enjoying the work she is doing.

‘No two days are the same which is great!’ she said. ‘I also feel like I am doing something helpful.

‘I have always wanted a career where I can further myself and my development, so I think by completing this apprenticeship it will be the first step towards a career I can be proud of and enjoy.

‘Hopefully, I can work myself up the ladder towards becoming a team leader or manager.

‘At the age of 29, applying for and completing an apprenticeship can be quite daunting, but it has been the best thing for me, both personally and professionally.

‘And feeling as if I am heard and really matter is great. Also, you are never too old to try something new!’
