Social impact is at the heart of everything we do at Churchill Group. It shapes how we work, who we bring on board, and the partnerships we nurture. We believe a job should be more than just a paycheck. It should be a stepping stone, a confidence booster, maybe even a life-changer.
With our Social Value Framework, we’re committed to making a real, lasting difference, whether it’s for individuals, communities, or the future of our industry. It isn’t just a nice idea; it’s how we’re turning good intentions into real, positive action across the UK. Here’s how we’re doing it and why it’s so important.
Measuring what matters: £366 million in social value
In 2023/24, Churchill Group generated over £366 million in social value from local employment, calculated using the Social Value Portal’s TOMs framework. This isn’t just a headline number. It’s a reflection of the deep-rooted belief that business should benefit everyone it touches.
Empowering people through opportunity
Our Social Value Framework is built on two core pillars: employability and life skills, and social value in the community. Through these, we’re creating pathways for people who’ve faced barriers to work and backing them with real, hands-on support.

Real stories, real change
Ellie, a young woman with dyslexia and epilepsy, joined Churchill through the West Lea Supported Internship Programme. With encouragement and the right environment, she’s now thriving in the workplace. You can find out more about Ellie’s journey.
Mehrajul, a 21-year-old autistic intern, grew in confidence during his time with us in London. From improving social interactions to building professional skills, his story is a powerful reminder of the value of patience and inclusion.
Kevin, a British Sign Language (BSL) user, found a supportive role at Churchill through our partnership with Deaf Umbrella. With visual task support and an inclusive culture, he’s become an integral part of our cleaning team and is already aiming for promotion. Find out more about Kevin here.
These aren’t isolated successes; they’re part of a structured, intentional strategy to build a workplace where everyone belongs and thrives.

Volunteering with purpose
Our social value isn’t only delivered through employment. It’s also in the time and energy our colleagues give back to their communities. During a volunteering day at London Zoo, our team helped renew enclosures and shift 13 tonnes of gravel, supporting animal welfare and demonstrating the power of practical, hands-on social impact.
Initiatives like these are powered by our CommunityMe Ambassadors, who lead everything from employability workshops to environmental projects across the UK.
Looking ahead
In 2025, we’re deepening our social value strategy with:
- A new social recruitment programme, in partnership with SRAG and charity partners
- Continued focus on inclusive hiring via the Social Recruitment Covenant, Armed Forces Covenant, and Care Leavers Covenant
- Full integration of TOMs reporting into our ESG Register, bringing clearer visibility and accountability across the business
Our Social Value Framework isn’t just about metrics, it’s about people. We’re proud of the lives we’ve helped shape, the barriers we’ve helped remove, and the sense of purpose our teams bring to every initiative. Through local action, inclusive recruitment, and community partnerships, we’re proving that business can, and should, be a force for good.
